I hold the privilege of calling myself a registered nurse and midwife. My background largely involves community-based care including paediatrics, rural community nursing, and midwifery across various sites in Perth and the South West of WA. I am a wife and mother to 2 beautiful kids and a fur baby. I’ve experienced really positive births and have been involved in many as a midwife, and I want to help as many women as I can have the same experience.
I believe that by accessing high quality, evidence based antenatal education such as Calmbirth, couples give themselves the best chance of having a positive birth experience. I’ve witnessed this as a midwife many times, and now through my practice couples too. Seeing their attitude change from fear to faith really warms my heart and speaks volumes of the Calmbirth program. Couples leaving my class have felt an increase in confidence going into their births and this I believe, is priceless. When you have the confidence, you have the power to make educated, informed decisions.
Another aspect of Calmbirth that I love is the partner involvement and the emotional healing therapy embedded in the program. Having explored various antenatal programs, I’m confident that Calmbirth is the best option for birthing couples and would highly encourage all couples, no matter what number baby and where or how you are birthing, to do the course. Whether that is with me or another educator, just do it! You won’t regret it.
