I work at…Art of Health & Wellbeing Natural Therapy Centre, Leichhardt as a Dr. Chinese medicine, Doula and Calmbirth Educator.
What I love most about being a Calmbirth Educator… Watching the room change from the beginning of class with those that are not sure about the upcoming birth of their baby, to seeing them leave happy and confident. The feedback after they have birthed, and as Acupuncturist/Doula how all three blend beautifully with the birthing room.
My life in five words…Active, family orientated, always interesting.
What I love most about where I live…I live in Rozelle close to the Bay Walk, the sunsets of an evening are delightful over the water. It’s a great area to live close to everything and the neighbours in my street are extended family.
The three essential things you need to take with you into labour are….A great birth team, confidence and calm.
What I do to relax when I’m not working is…I love to read, catch up with family and friends, and have a G&T.
If I had to describe my own birth experience in three words I would describe as… Child 1: Induction, fast and intense. Child 2: Natural labour, calm and supported.
My Most memorable moment as a Calmbirth Educator is…Working with a couple for fertility, through pregnancy and then being present as their Doula watching them utilise what they had learnt in class, the magic of seeing it all play out.
I can’t live without…My mobile phone, just don’t tell my teenagers I’ve said that.
The person I admire most is….My 96 year old grandfather who has been through a war, lost the love of his life 30 years ago and each day he wakes with a smile and a zest for life.
The best advice I ever got in my life was…You come into life alone, you go out of life alone, what you do in between is your choice!
