Ebony is the only Calmbirth® Educator in the picturesque Manning Valley region of NSW and she has been a Registered Midwife since 2018 and holds qualifications in Prenatal and Postnatal Yoga. Ebony also works closely with the Aboriginal families within her community and will now be able to offer these families the Calmbirth program, in addition to the other services she already offers.
“I am a mother of two beautiful children, whose births transformed and inspired my life in ways I can not describe. Since the birth of my first child, my passion for education and empowerment for women and families around pregnancy, birth and beyond has only grown. After witnessing many births and experiencing birth itself, I can honestly say that the answer to a positive birth experience lies within yourself, and your educational and emotional preparation. During my classes I aim to offer women and their families a safe and nurturing space to gain the knowledge, confidence, and inner strength essential for childbirth and beyond.”
She says, “I am a firm believer in the idea that “healing birth, heals the earth”. Which is exactly why I have chosen to be an Educator with Calmbirth®, as our vision is to change our current birth culture to one that is talked about and experienced far more positively, now and for future generations.”
My name is…Ebony Jennings.
I work at…I am currently employed as a registered Midwife at Manning Base Hospital.
My life in five words…I would describe my life as beautiful, chaotic, spontaneous, developing, and full of love.
The best thing I love about where I live is…I am so fortunate to live in an area with an abundance of natural beauty. I am surrounded by oceans, mountains, waterwalls, creeks and stunning native bushland. It is truly magical when you look around.
What I do to relax when I’m not working is…One of my favourite things to do in life, is head to the beach on a beautiful breezy afternoon.
I can’t live without...This may sound cliché, but I honestly could not see life without my children.
The person or traits I most admire is… I love people who radiate happiness and passion. Someone who is true to themselves and their goals in life. I admire people who stand up for what they believe in, and take the action required to live out their most authentic life.
What I love most about being a Calmbirth Educator is...Coming in as a fresh Calmbirth Educator, I love the idea that I may give couples the tools and empowerment to create a positive birth experience. I am so excited to share the amazing content of the Calmbirth course with those who choose to join me.
If I had to describe my own birth stories they would be….The experience of giving birth is like no other. It is so hard to pin down only a couple of words that describe such events in my life. Although I would say 3 words that stand out amongst the rest are…. Transformative, empowering, and intuitive.
The three essential things you need to take with you into labour are…The way I see it, every woman and couple will have a completely different experience and “checklist” as their essentials for labour. However, this is my list:
I believe the topmost important thing is your support network. A support team who is positive, compassionate and makes you feel safe, will make the world of difference in Labour.
Anything that makes you feel comfortable- clothing, smells (essential oils), your own pillow or a special object etc…
A birthing playlist. For me, music relaxes me completely, which makes it the perfect tool for labour.
My most memorable moment as a Calmbirth Educator so far is...Stay tuned to find out …
A favourite quote …“When we heal birth, we heal the earth”
If you had to describe how seeing a baby being born makes you feel…Witnessing the birth of a baby, mother and family is one of the greatest gifts you can ever receive. Witnessing birth leaves a feeling of pure awe and contentment. It resurfaces the idea that children have a beautiful way of bringing out what woman are
