She says, “I am a self-confessed birth nerd, having fallen in love with all things pregnancy and birth during my first birth journey, and believe that unbiased information and support are the keys to positive pregnancy, birth and postpartum experiences. I’ve supported hundreds of women throughout their pregnancy, birth and postnatal periods, and in my lactation work, have spent thousands of hours providing mother-to-mother support with compassion and empathy.“I adore my community, running multiple local pregnancy and parenting groups, and also volunteer for multiple national and state based maternity and breastfeeding organisations. I believe building communities for support and education are imperative to enabling smooth transitions for families during these pivotal, life-changing journeys, and consequently I am ecstatic to be able to offer the Calmbirth program to local families. I so look forward to sharing the journey with more women and couples in the future!”
My name… is Aimee Sing.
I work at…Birth Aims, my own business, as a birth and postpartum doula, lactation consultant (IBCLC), infant massage, baby yoga and sleep and settling support practitioner. I provide support to families in all aspects of their pregnancy, birth and parenting journey in the Blue Mountains, Lithgow, Nepean and Hawkesbury areas.
My life in five words…Mum, Researcher, Doula, IBCLC, Environmentalist.
The best thing about where I live…that it is breathtakingly beautiful, full of life and nature and surrounded by the best, most supportive community anyone could wish for.
What I do to relax when I’m not working…I love to read, swim in the sea, go for bushwalks, go camping and spend time with my family.
I can’t live without…My people, animals and nature!
The person or traits I most admire is…compassion, empathy, authenticity and determination.
What I love most about being a Calmbirth educator...I love having the opportunity to share information and resources that help couples recognise and acknowledge their own power! I also love the small communities that are built from the classes and having the chance to provide support to these families not only during the course, but sometimes long afterwards too. I also love the impact the Calmbirth program has had on my own life, rewriting old, limiting beliefs and helping me to transition into a totally new space both personally and professionally! The resources you get from the Calmbirth course definitely aren’t just for birth; they’re for life!
If I had to describe my own birth experiences in 3 words…transformative, empowering, transcendent.
The 3 essential things you need to take with you into labour are…a positive mindset, a plan (with knowledge comes confidence) and someone in your corner, just for you!
My most memorable moment as a Calmbirth educator…was recognising just how powerful the Calmbirth tools are not only for plan a, but for every other letter of the alphabet too! I also love witnessing couples re-learning how to tap into their own inner resources and recognising how powerful these can be for all aspects of their life.
A favourite quote…“If you have knowledge let others light their candles in it.” ~ Margaret Fuller
If I had to describe how seeing a baby being born makes me feel...I’d say it makes me pause, take a breath and sit in wonder at just how breathtakingly incredible women, babies and birth are!
