Getting to know Calmbirth Educator Anne Ludlow

Educators

Anne Ludlow has been a midwife for over 20 years, having changed from a thoroughly enjoyable nursing career after having three children of her  own.

She says, “I have an immense passion for ensuring not only healthy bodies, but excellent mental well-being for the pregnant woman and her partner. A woman who goes through pregnancy in a calm, relaxed and confident way will not only have a better birth experience herself; her partner and baby will too!”

Anne’s background in nursing and midwifery is complemented by knowledge in psychology, education and counselling. She has conducted many antenatal classes, but having qualified as a Calmbirth educator, she knows how important it is for the pregnant woman to be in the best possible frame of mind when preparing to give birth.

Anne will be teaching the Calmbirth course at the Northern Beaches Hospital which will be launching at the Hospital shortly, so watch this space for dates.

My name is…Anne Ludlow

I work at… the Northern Beaches Hospital in Sydney.

My life in five words…family, friends, animals, love and adventure.

The best thing I love about where I live is… the fresh air and the beaches.

What I do to relax when I’m not working is… to bushwalk, read, learn Italian, have just begun yoga, really enjoy live theatre and pre Covid of course love travelling!

I can’t live without... my family and the odd G&T with lots of ice and lemon.

What I love most about being a Calmbirth Educator is... the ability to make a difference in the way women think about labour and birth. I love the way the course not only prepares the pregnant couple for birth, but also teaches skills they are able to take throughout life in general.

If I had to describe my own birth stories they would be….Best Days Ever!

The three essential things you need to take with you into labour are… Love Trust and Confidence.

My most memorable moment as a Calmbirth Educator so far is...the look on my first woman’s face when she achieved her “perfect” birth.

I will be eternally grateful for a career I have truly loved! What an absolute privilege it is to see a baby being born and share with a couple one of life’s most special events. And to get paid to do so!!

I look forward to spending time with you and passing on some of my knowledge, passion and skills that will help you achieve the type of birth you want.
